BOARD & TRAIN
What is a Board & Train?
A board and train is a program where your dog will stay in the home of a professional trainer in the Lexington, Kentucky area. They receive several daily training sessions, plenty of physical and mental stimulation, and will learn the skills needed to be a well-behaved dog! This is by far our most popular program due to the stress it relieves on the owner (YOU!). Instead of you having to put in all of the time to train your dog in-between private lessons or day training, we do the training for you.

3-week Core Foundation
For dogs over 6-months old-
The key to having a well-trained dog is to make sure your Core Foundation of Obedience is rock-solid. Once your dog has absolutely mastered these things, you will notice that the little issues that you struggle with will magically go away! That is what we focus on in this program.
In the 3-week program, your dog will learn the following: -
Loose-leash walking without pulling, barking, lunging, sniffing, or reacting to dogs and/or distractions
-
Sit
-
Down
-
Place
-
Coming When Called
-
ALL Around Distractions!

4-week Core Foundation + Off Leash Reliability
For dogs over 6-months old-
Our off-leash program includes the Core Foundation program, with a focus on off-leash reliability so you have the tools to control your dog off leash!
Once your dog has mastered the obedience in a controlled environment, we will then focus on getting them out in public and around basic distractions in the “real-world”.

5+week Behavior Modification
For puppies and dogs experiencing severe anxiety, aggression or reactivity.-
Our off-leash program includes the Core Foundation program, with a focus on off-leash reliability so you have the tools to control your dog off leash!
Once your dog has mastered the obedience in a controlled environment, we will then focus on getting them out in public and around basic distractions in the “real-world”. -
Exact duration will vary per dog and will be discussed at the time of the consultation.
-
This program is designed for dogs that are exhibiting dog aggression, fear aggression, human aggression, and biting.
-
We are one of the few professional dog trainers in the Lexington, Kentucky area who work with dogs that have bitten children and adults, as well as dogs who have gotten into dog fights
-
Working with aggression is not like working on an obedience command. It is much more intense work, takes much longer, is much more dangerous for the staff and the staff dogs and takes multiple trainers working with the dog for safety
-
Our ultimate goal is to get a dog to at least be neutral around other humans and dogs. We will always give you an honest assessment during and after training of what your dog’s immediate limitations will be.
FAQ
How do I schedule my dog?
For Board & Train programs, I do require a consultation. This allows us to meet in person, I can evaluate your dog, we can go over the program in more detail and I can give a recommendation for the duration of the program based on your dog.
After that, all you need to do to book your spot is pat a 20% nonrefundable deposit!
Who decides how long my dog stays?
This is something we address at the consultation. The trainer will evaluate your dog and give their recommendation at that time.
Can my dog stay longer?
This can absolutely be discussed! It cannot be guaranteed due to scheduling conflicts, which is why we will do our best to recommend the proper program at the consultation.
Does my dog come home during the program?
Our Board & Train programs operate on a Monday-Friday system. We will pick up your dog Monday morning, they will spend the week with us, on Friday we will have a go-home lesson to go over what your dog learned that week and what homework you need to work on, and then we will pick them back up on Monday!
Can I send my dog to this program while I'm on vacation?
Absolutely! This is what many people choose to do.
Does my dog have to come home on the weekends?
Have to? No. However, we have recently started implementing this and have seen a huge success with owners being more involved in training, as well as dogs being more compliant with their owners! If there is a scheduling issue, we can address it at the time of the consultation.
Do you take payments?
Of course! All that is required to hold your spot is a nonrefundable 20% deposit. The remaining will need to be paid in full by the start date, but we accept payments up until that time.
Do you send any updates?
We try to send video and/or picture updates daily, as well as a brief explanation of how they have been doing.
Will my dog listen to me at the end?
The most important part of this program is transferring everything over to you. We will be doing this gradually on our Friday lessons. On the last Friday, we will have a bit of a longer lesson to go over everything and make sure you are comfortable and confident in hanlding your dog!
You will also receive one free follow-up lesson after the program is completed. We recommend to use this about one-month after the program.
