ABOUT CORE K9

ABOUT US

One of the first things people ask us is “why did you name the company Core K9?” and the answer is pretty simple!

We focus on the CORE of dog training and behavior which is having a solid, reliable, CORE Foundation of Obedience meaning your dog listens to you whether you are inside, outside, at the park, in a store, having company over, or just relaxing on the couch!

Whether you are looking to hit the show ring, compete in high level obedience trials or just want a well-behaved pet… your dog needs to have a solid foundation of obedience and we are here to help you!

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help any and every dog that comes our way, regardless of that dog’s history.

As one of the few dog trainers in the Lexington, Kentucky area, we provide obedience training as well as behavior modification for you and your dog.

We are the trainers that clients come to when they have already been to several others without seeing success. We have saved many aggressive dogs from being euthanized with our belief that any dog can be trained.

OUR TEAM

With over 15 years’ experience in the animal industry, our background truly sets us apart from our competitors.

Amber Schorpp

Owner/Head Trainer

Just like most little girls… I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. I have always loved animals!

My passion blossomed with them when I was very young and started volunteering at a local shelter/rescue. At the age of 14, I dove into the equestrian world and spent the next 15 years managing equine facilities all over Upstate NY ranging from private breeding farms and show facilities to rescue and rehabbing horses from slaughter.

In 2015 I got my first Bully Breed Mix and completely fell in love with their personality and really started becoming obsessed with training him. I soon realized how similar dogs and horses learn! It wasn’t long after that I found myself studying, reading, watching thousands of videos and eventually apprenticing under other trainers to get hands-on experience so I could learn as much as possible about all of the techniques of dog training.

Since then, I have acquired two American Bullies (Reko & Komrad) achieved many titles with them in both obedience and conformation, and we actively compete in UKC, AKC and PSA events!

Reko

DEMO DOG

Reko is an American Bully born on November 14th, 2016. American Bullies were bred to be the ultimate companion… and Reko is just that! He will sleep all weekend if you want to, but he is also excited to go camping, hiking or swimming.

Reko is our main Demo Dog and will likely be the one to meet your dog first.

Reko loves to swim, roll in the grass, perform his tricks and get back scratches!

Reko has earned the following titles:

UKC Champion in Conformation
UKC Rally Obedience 1
UKC Rally Obedience 2
UKC Rally Obedience 3
UKC SPOT-ON
AKC Canine Good Citizen
AKC Canine Good Citizen – Urban
AKC Canine Good Citizen – Advanced
AKC Trick Dog Novice
AKC Trick Dog Intermediate

Komrad

DEMO DOG

Komrad is also an American Bully born on October 24th, 2020.
Komrad is also relaxed but was also bred to be high-strung, so he has a very high prey drive and working instinct. He requires a lot more daily physical activity!
He is dog friendly but more hyper than Reko, so he will likely meet your dog if your dog has high-energy and will keep up!

Komrad loves swimming, playing with any type of ball, flirtpole, spring pole, the treadmill and making sure the water doesn’t attack anyone from the hose! He also actively trains and competes in PSA (Protection Sports Association).

Komrad has earned the following titles:

UKC Champion in Conformation
UKC Rally Obedience 1
UKC Rally Obedience 2
UKC SPOT-ON
AKC Canine Good Citizen
